McCain, You’re No Dwight Eisenhower

President Eisenhower, on the night before the Normandy invasion…[wrote a] letter of resignation to the United States Army for the failure of the landings at Normandy.

Well, that’s just not the case, Senator. Then General Eisenhower did write a note, thankfully one that never had to be read or heard by the American people in the days following D-Day.

This is the note:

It reads:

Our landings have failed to gain a satisfactory foothold and I have withdrawn the troops. My decision to attack at this time and place was based upon the best information available. The troops, the air and the Navy did all that bravery and devotion to duty could do. If any blame or fault attaches to the attempt it is mine alone.

A small point, but small points sometimes point to larger ones, such as talking out of one’s ass.
